Kai Okonomi Cuisine Offers a Special Dish for the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race For The Cure®

HONOLULU – Kai Okonomi Cuisine will donate a portion of the sales of their most popular dish, the Renkon Cheese Yaki, to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Owner, Isamu Kubota has decided to support the Komen Foundation as he makes his debut in Hawaii with his newly established restaurant on Makaloa St., near Ala Moana and Tower Records. Kai Okonomi Cuisine offers a fresh and dynamic dining experience and has already started a buzz among local patrons.

“It is very important that we give back to the community,” said Kubota, “this is a worthy cause and we are happy to help.” Kubota is not only a supporter of local charities; he is also a supporter of the local food industry. Many of the dishes served at Kai Okonomi Cuisine feature local products such as Kahuku prawns, Hau’ula tomatoes and Hawaii farmed chicken.

Renkon Cheese Yaki ($8.50), or lotus root with cheese, is their most popular item and will feature a pink ribbon signifying their dedication to breast cancer awareness. Each sale of this dish will be donated to Komen Hawaii. This generous offer will continue through August and conclude on October 24th, the day of Komen’s largest fundraiser, the Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure at Kapiolani Park.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure® Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lost their battle with the disease. With funds raised by the Komen Race for the Cure® Series, the Komen Foundation with its Affiliate Network is able to fund breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. Since its origination in Dallas, Texas, in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure® Series has grown from one local Race with 800 participants to a series of more than 100 Races with 1.5 million people expected to participate in 2004.
